From startups in Silicon Valley wanting to optimize their productivity to people hoping to enhance their day-to-day spiritual connection\, microdosing has penetrated many layers of society. \nIn this talk\, we will explore the concept of microdosing\, examining the potential benefits as well as the risks of psychedelics. We’ll review the current scientific understanding of the practice and provide practical guidelines on frequency\, dosage\, and substance selection for beneficial results. To conclude\, Melanie will review her personal year-long microdosing journey\, and we invite everyone to join the discussion\, ask questions\, and share experiences. \nWe encourage an open dialogue in a safe space\, where people can learn about the safe use of psychedelic substances. This raises the question of what is meant by ‘psychological or spiritual development.’ \nOn the 23rd of November\, we will explore two contemporary frameworks that examine how humans evolve in their personal identity\, values\, and worldviews: integral theory and metamodernism. Both offer ways to understand the complex\, nonlinear path of human growth. These theories recognize development as a multi-layered process\, encompassing cognitive\, emotional\, moral\, and spiritual dimensions. \nTo map these stages of growth\, we’ll provide a model that visualizes shifts in human consciousness and values over time—from survival-oriented mindsets to more complex\, interdependent ways of thinking\, up to stages where individuals begin to develop a broader perspective\, integrating insights from previous stages and potentially experiencing an ecological awakening that connects personal growth with planetary well-being. \nTo connect the dots\, we’ll consider how psychedelics can catalyze transformative insights\, potentially accelerating growth through certain developmental stages or even offering glimpses into higher stages. DESCRIPTION:This talk with workshop elements will explore psychedelics from the perspective of compassion and social behavior and shed light on the potential synergies between psychedelics and compassion-based interventions. I’ll present some of the recent research findings in this area\, make the basic concepts understandable\, and offer simple contemplative practices for the cultivation of compassion. There will also be plenty of time for your questions and discussion. \n“Unconditional self-acceptance and the deep sense of connection that are felt during a [psychedelic-induced] mystical experience could provoke the psychological insights that patterns of avoidance and critical self-judgments are dysfunctional and that suffering\, being imperfect\, making mistakes and encountering life difficulties are part of the shared human experience”. (Baptiste Fauvel et al. 2023) \nModern competitive society has led to an individualized sense of self and self-centered attention\, which comes with social comparisons that generate envy and shame\, relentless striving for more and better\, and self-criticism in the face of failure. As a result\, many people today suffer from mental health problems such as self-rumination\, shame\, depression and anxiety that make it difficult to access feelings of self-worth\, self-love\, self-acceptance and self-compassion. Experiences of social safety and connectedness – whether induced by psychedelics and/or compassion-based interventions – can help shift from a competitive to a caring mindset with an increased sense of social safety\, compassionate motivation\, and prosocial behavior.  \nThis shift from a threat-sensitive\, competitive and self-centered mindset towards a safety-sensitive\, collaborative and caring mindset is the primary goal of compassion-based interventions. Recent research suggests that psychedelics could be used as adjuncts to these interventions because they induce direct experience of relevant brain states\, including decreased self-rumination and experiential avoidance as well as increased empathy\, positive emotions\, psychological flexibility and connectedness. Research also shows that an increase in self-compassion is one of the central factors in determining the therapeutic outcomes of psychedelics and that compassion-based interventions can therefore help to get the best results from psychedelic experiences. \nAbout: Mag. DESCRIPTION:This Talk will be held in german: \nSchamanismus findet sich in den ältesten Kulturen der Menschheit und hat diese bis heute geprägt. Dabei verstehen sich Schamanen als Vermittler*innen zwischen der sichtbaren und der unsichtbaren Welt\, zwischen Mensch und Natur\, sowie Zivilisation und Wildnis. Seit mindestens 50.000 Jahren gibt es auch Hinweise auf die Verwendung von zahlreichen psychoaktiven Pflanzen\, aber auch andere Methoden der Bewusstseinsveränderung finden Anwendung im rituellen Kontext. \nDer Vortrag vermittelt einen Einblick in die Welt des Schamanismus\, sowie dessen Verwendung von Instrumenten\, Gesängen\, Räucherstoffe\, Pilzen und psychoaktiven Pflanzen\, um im rituellen Rahmen bewusstseinsveränderte Zustände zu erreichen und durch diese zu manövrieren. \nNach der Präsentation gibt es optional die Möglichkeit in einem Klangkreis den schamanischen Rhythmus und Klang kennenzulernen. Er lernte unter anderem von den Q’Eros – Nachfahren der Inka\, von Dr.Christian Rätsch und den Methoden Terence McKennas. \nVictoria Schreiner –\nBeschäftigt sich intensiv mit Kunstgeschichte\, Sinologie\, historischer und frühgeschichtlicher Mode sowie der modernen psychoaktiven Kultur. Sie gibt Vorträge zum Thema Schamanismus und dem Brauchtum alter Kulturen. DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce our first official workshop on the 30th of November\, which offers hands-on experience in contrast to our more intellectual talks. \nIn addition to psychedelic substances\, there are many ways of altering your brain chemistry to induce an expanded state of consciousness. One of the most powerful and accessible means is breathwork. \nIn this workshop\, you will be guided through a one-hour breathing session accompanied by evocative music. We will use connected and cyclical deep breathing\, which puts the nervous system in an alert state and leads to a heightened awareness of your body and emotions. This can result in a meditative experience\, lead to a blissful state\, or bring up repressed and buried emotions. By allowing yourself to feel everything that wants to come up while simultaneously staying with the breath\, you can dissolve emotional blockages and free yourself of habitual thought patterns. (Please read the contra-indications below) \nFollowing the breathing session\, we will gather and allow everyone to share their experiences within a safe space. DESCRIPTION:What does dance have to do with altered states of consciousness? \nThe human body is the vehicle for expressing ourselves in this world\, used in a spontaneous way it can induce a flow state\, free us of our overthinking mind\, and expand our state of consciousness. Matan Levkowich\, founder of the Movement Lab\, will join us on November 18th to explore the potential of dance and bodily awareness as a gateway to another state of being\, where body and mind are unified and whole. \nThis evening will begin with a dance performance to give us a taste of what expressive movement is all about\, followed by a more cognitive perspective\, as Matan will be holding a presentation\, weaving together the connection between contemporary dance and changes in the perception of reality. To close we will get the opportunity to participate in a (optional) guided dance experience and embody the exploration of the previously shared concepts on a physical level.
